A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth -- to cover the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance.
The crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.

The clear alternative to metal braces.
By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth with results you'll notice sooner than you think. The course of treatment involves changing aligners approximately every two weeks, moving your teeth into straighter position step by step, until you have a more beautiful smile. And unlike braces, these clear aligners can be removed while you eat and brush your teeth as usual.
It can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites and even crossbites. In fact, as an Invisalign Dentist, Charlotte de Courcey-Bayley can use Invisalign clear aligners in all or part of any treatment plan.
Whether your smile needs minor improvements or more extensive adjustments, Invisalign can certainly help. It's successful in treating overly crowded or widely spaced teeth. It can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites and even crossbites. In fact, an Invisalign Accredited Orthodontist or Dentist can use Invisalign clear aligners in all or part of just about any treatment plan. .

Get the right orthodontic treatment for you
Orthodontic treatment is just as important for adults as it is for teenagers as the health of your teeth and gums is essential at any age. We can treat adults who haven't had any orthodontic treatment before as well as those who had some but over time their teeth have moved again.
At Holistic Dental Care our approach is to understand what factors have impacted on your situation to create crowding of the teeth or misalignment of the jaws. Our belief is that if these underlying factors are not addressed as part of the overall treatment then orthodontic treatment is very likely to fail and re-crowding of teeth will occur after treatment has been completed.
If you wish to understand more about how you can resolve your bad bite or crowded teeth please contact us now and arrange a comprehensive examination where we can review your case and advise you on a custom made approach for your specific needs.
Implant treatment is increasingly recognised as the treatment of choice in replacing lost teeth. Because older methods of tooth replacement, such as bridges, partials, and dentures, have disadvantages in terms of both appearance and function, dental implants are thought by many patients to be a better option for them. Replacement teeth supported by dental implants have been carried out for over 35 years and when well planned implant treatment can have success rates higher than 90 percent in long-term function.

Usually made from porcelain, Veneers are a thin, semi-translucent shell that is custom made to fit precisely over your tooth. They are permanently bonded, held in place by a special resin that attaches the back of the veneer to the front of the tooth. Veneers are not always the answer for everyones particular needs however they are a great cosmetic alternative for many dental conditions that affect your front teeth. Our goal, through the use of veneers, is to restore your smiles natural beauty. There are many benefits and advantages to having porcelain veneers applied to your front teeth.
Only a small amount of natural tooth structure is removed during the procedure A healthy, natural look is achieved with little or no discomfort Veneers are less expensive than crowns Veneers are strong, durable and colour-stable
How are veneers different from fillings or crowns?A composite resin filling is used when only a small amount of tooth structure needs replacing or repairing. A full crown is needed when a tooth has had root canal treatment or when a substantial amount of the entire tooth structure has been lost. A porcelain veneer is suitable when a portion of the front surface of a tooth needs a 'face lift'.
How are porcelain veneers created for your teeth? After shaping the teeth as required, an impression is taken. This mould is sent to the laboratory technician where they will create your veneers. At this stage temporary veneers are made and fitted to the teeth, although this is not always necessary, everybody's teeth are different and we look at each individual patient to assess their needs. At the second appointment, after checking that you are completely happy with the new look of your smile, the veneers are bonded to the underlying tooth. It is as simple as that!
What can you expect from your veneers?Veneers can last you for years, but it depends entirely on how well you take care of them. Because veneers are stronger than simple bonding, they are also more resistant to stains and chipping however if you do play a contact sport, we do highly recommend you use a customised mouthguard. It is important to practice good oral hygiene, also avoiding bad habits such as nail biting or chewing ice. Finally, routine examinations and cleanings are essential for keeping your veneers in good condition.
Look after your veneers and they will last a long time, looking as good as new. St Leonards Holistic Dental Care is available to discuss your questions on aesthetic dentistry, making sure it is the right decision for you and your teeth.
